Catholic Brotherhood
in the Heart of New York

The City You’re Walking Into
Statistics boast that there are 3 million Catholics in the city; the empty pews quietly dispute it.
The Church here is small but pure; tested and refined in the crucible. It has the same ethos that drives New York: scrappy, determined, elite. We have talented friends; but it takes effort to find them. We have deep resources of spiritual, intellectual, and cultural capital, but it is scattered and untapped. For those willing to work, the access and opportunity abound, for all roads lead through New York, even Catholic ones.
But all this comes at a price.

Our Solution
Living as a young man in New York is a test, and the city does not care if you pass. Real friendships are rare and basic life necessities — like housing — are difficult to maintain. Amidst the isolation and expense, it becomes easy to lose yourself.
Our Catholic ancestors who built it knew this. And so, they designed their city for community. They formed neighborhoods together and tithed money they didn't have to raise parishes on every corner.
That spirit built this city once. And we believe we can do it again.
The Brotherhood at Alexander Hall will build back that residential Catholic society together, one residence at a time.
What Alexander Hall is

How To Start
Strong in NYC
Share who you are, your faith, and when you’re coming to the city. We’re looking for men who want to pray, work, build, and live the Good Life together.
We’ll talk through your situation, expectations, and whether the Hall is the right fit - for you and for the brothers already here.
Join the household, step into the rule of life, and plug into the wider Catholic ecosystem from day one.

This City is not neutral, don't walk in Alone.

New York will form you. The only question is: into what?
The Church is still alive here. Christ is still at work here. But He normally builds through households, friendships, and small bands of men who stand shoulder to shoulder.
We’ve begun building that band. We have a basecamp. Come take your place.
FAQS
Alexander Hall is a Catholic residence in NYC that provides housing to a Brotherhood of men who moved to New York to seek excellence in their career and build the Kingdom as they live the Good Life together. We want to aid that calling, and believe it should not be done alone: man is a political being that belongs in community.
Alexander Hall is for leaders, devout men who want to grow in faith and virtue while taking responsibility for rebuilding Catholic society and its institutions. We are not looking for perfect GPAs, polished résumés, or all-state athletes. While excellence matters, we value personality, grit, initiative, and a willingness to integrate and work more than credentials.
‍
Alex Klucik, the namesake of Alexander Hall, was far from perfect (in fact he was not the best at anything!) but he approached everything with tenacity and put forth his best effort. Through that perseverance, he became a leader in the classroom, on the field, and among his peers. That combination of humility, discipline, and drive is what we are looking for above all.
Alexander Hall fulfills this mission by carefully selecting applicants to the Brotherhood and arranging a lease for them in a shared residence. The residents join the Brotherhood and live a rule of life centered on adoration and the sacraments, service, and the joy of camaraderie. Through our vast network of connections, we partner with institutions that share our mission and introduce our residents to NYC’s Catholic culture and the individuals driving it.
Yes, and they are designed to support the residence’s smooth operation and the formation of each resident:
- Daily commitments include participating in a rotating schedule for cleaning and maintaining the shared space, and being a responsible, respectful member of the household.
- Weekly commitments include Eucharistic adoration, access to confession, and Mass together on Sundays, as well as a communal meal after.
Monthly commitments may include participating in cultural, professional, or religious events throughout the city to help residents integrate into Catholic life in New York and build meaningful relationships.
Alexander Hall leases the residence and typically arranges individual sub-leases for residents on a one-year basis. While we are open to exceptions based on individual circumstances, these are handled on a case-by-case basis.
‍
Each resident is responsible for his monthly rent under the sub-lease, as well as a proportional share of utilities.
